From the end of a four-title dynasty to breakthrough victories, new contenders, and a championship still hanging in the balance, the 2026 Pro 4 season delivered one of the most compelling campaigns in iRacing Short Course history. Connor Barry entered the year carrying the weight of expectations. Misfortune struck Barry, opening the door for Thad Countryman to seize control of the championship fight. Countryman capitalized on the opportunity and never relinquished the points lead, piecing together a remarkably consistent season to earn his first career iRacing Short Course championship. Countryman not only snapped Barry's streak of four consecutive championships but also delivered Team Gold eSports its first-ever Driver's Championship. Perhaps even more impressive was how he accomplished it. Countryman became the first champion in iRacing Short Course history to claim a title without winning an overall race, proving that consistency can be just as valuable as outright speed in the pursuit of a championship.

[caption id="attachment_15790" align="alignnone" width="640"] Thad Countryman seized control of the Shortcourse iRacing Pro4 Championship.[/caption]

“The goal wasn’t to win every race,” Countryman said. “It was to show up every round, race smart, and stay consistent. Despite consistently showing race-winning pace and remaining a fixture near the front of the field, the top step of the podium had remained just out of reach. That finally changed at Wild West. Edmundson delivered a statement performance to secure his first career overall Pro 4 win, ending a drought that had followed him for much of his career and providing one of the most memorable moments of the season. GridOne's Drake Mittag also continued his rise through the ranks, capturing an overall victory at Long Beach while further establishing himself as one of the premier talents in the discipline. Four drivers have already secured their place in this year's World Finals field. Connor Barry, Drake Mittag, Josh Edmundson, and Evan Macfarlane have officially locked themselves into the championship by virtue of overall round wins and are guaranteed the opportunity to compete for an iRacing Short Course World Championship this winter.
