The weekend featured two days of racing at the mid-west track. Photo: Champ Off Road[\/caption]\r\n\r\nIn Saturday\u2019s Pro-4 action, RJ Anderson and Cole Mamer went to battle with Anderson leading the first half of the race. On the restart, Mamer got on the gas and passed Anderson for the lead. Anderson attempted to fight back, unable to pass Mamer. Sunday, saw CJ Greaves on the top podium spot after Mamer spun out on the track. Anderson briefly had a lead until a tire went flat.\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_12804\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"640\"]\"\" Ryan Beat started out his weekend at Wheatland with a win. Photo: Champ Off Road[\/caption]\r\n\r\nOne of the most competitive classes in the series is Pro2. Ryan Beat had the lead as battles ensued behind him. Ronnie Anderson, Johnny Holtger and Ricky Gutierrez all battled for positions. When the dust settled it was Anderson and Ricky G. who held onto the remaining two podium spots. On Sunday, Beat was back in the lead, but Keegan Kincaid wasn\u2019t going to let him win. Ricky Gutierrez struggled in the opening rounds at the Dirt City track back in June. This time around he had his truck dialed in. Ryan Beat was leading the race and was looking for another win until a tire let go forcing him into the hot pit. Ricky G seized the opportunity and took control of the field for his first win of the season. On Sunday, Cory Winner made it through all of the door-banging and contact to also secure his first win of the season.\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_10179\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"640\"]\"\" Jimmy Henderson secures his first win of the season at Dirt City. Everyone was treated to door to door racing short course is known for.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the Pro-2 class, Ricky Gutierrez started \u00a0out front on the first lap. He held that position for several laps before Mickey Thomas came knocking on his back door. Gutierrez had steam coming out of his truck indicating things were getting hot. Literally! Gutierrez was able to get the truck cooled down temporarily during the mandatory caution. Thomas put the hammer down and the two drivers swapped lead positions bringing the crowd to their feet. The heat got the best of Gutierrez giving Thomas the lead and season opening win.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn Pro-4, the \u201cWildman\u201d Adrian Cenni put on a show for the fans. Swapping the lead back and forth with Jimmy Henderson, Cenni came out on top for a podium. Henderson and Johnny Greaves would make contact allowing Andrew Carlson to get by and claim the second podium spot.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nJohnny Holtger cruised to an easy Pro-Lite win for his first race of the season. There has been no shortage of action on the consistently packed schedule. The event always kicks off with a parade downtown in front of hundreds of fans. Racers were on hand for autograph and photo opportunities. This year at Crandon also was one of the stops on the Kiss farewell tour. The legendary eighties band rocked the house in a massive concert put on by the Forest County Potawatomi at the track.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nSaturday\u2019s Pro-4 race was another round on the Championship Off Road Racing Series. The battle was between Greaves and RJ Anderson. The two have had a close rivalry at previous races. Greaves secured his sixth win moving him further ahead in the points standings over Jimmy Henderson.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nCory Winner\u2019s season is also coming together nicely. Winner who has been consistent jumped to an early lead keeping the rest of the field behind him. Winner has also elevated his points advantage in the Pro-2 class.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nOther class winners included Kyle Greaves in Pro-Lite and first-time winner Billy Buth. Sunday\u2019s events will include the Pro-2 vs. Pro-4 Cup Championship race.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nWhen Crandon International Raceway got dark Saturday night, all eyes turned over to the rock section for the Ultra4 events. In the final laps of Saturday\u2019s Pro-4 race, Henderson went door to door with CJ Greaves. Both raced hard but clean. Henderson proved to be just a little faster than Greaves when the checkered flag flew, taking his first career Pro-4 win.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\u201cTo get our first pro-four wins, it's been so hard fought, and everybody knows the adversity we went through,\" said Henderson. \"but to do it here in Crandon, Wisconsin. At the Big House, to get this first number one means the world to me and means the world to my team.\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe monkey is off of Keegan Kincaid\u2019s back. Kincaid struggled last season. Bad luck also struck him in at the opening rounds in Antigo. Kincaid finally got a Pro-2 victory in front of his hometown crowd. Despite cooler cloudy conditions, fans still packed the grandstands to watch a full day of racing. This year the track was run in reverse, challenging those drivers who have become too comfortable with the layout. Drivers had to be on their toe, gaining speed in corners and off jumps to give them a competitive advantage.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\u201cRowdy\u201d Ryan Beat proved at the season opener his Pro-2 truck was dialed in for the season. Beat wasted no time leading the field through the first turn. Beat stayed clean the entire race. After struggling in 2022 with a handful of podiums but no wins, Beat is ready to prove he has what it takes to make it to the championship. Beat will be one to watch this season.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the Pro-4 class, six trucks started the race. In the first lap, three immediately became casualties of racing. That left CJ Greaves, Adrian Cenni and Kyle Greaves to fight it out. Kyle was driving Johnny\u2019s Pro-4. Johnny was hospitalized after a Friday qualifying crash. The latest word is Johnny is doing ok after posting a photo from his hospital bed. Meanwhile defending champion CJ and Cenni swapped lead positions for several laps with some exciting door to door racing. In the end CJ claimed the top spot on the podium.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nEarlier in the afternoon, Kyle Greaves had already stood high atop the podium. Kyle patiently waited for the mandatory caution flag before striking. Kyle and Trey Gibbs spent the remaining laps battling for the lead. It wouldn\u2019t take long for Kyle to find the perfect line that carried enough speed to make his lead stick all the way to the checkered flag. Round one of the series did not disappoint. Hundreds of race fans were already on the Johnson Valley lakebed for the prestigious King of the Hammers events and they were excited to see some door to door short course racing action.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the Pro2 race, Ronnie Anderson was out front leading most of the laps. Even with caution flags Anderson stayed in front of the chaos. With just two laps to go a mechanical failure would end Anderson\u2019s day. Rowdy Ryan Beat capitalized on Anderson\u2019s misfortune and brought home the victory.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn Pro-Buggy, Lorenzo Bonacci had the fastest laps in his Bomber Eyewear machine. Bonacci managed to stay out front most of the race. In the Pro-Lite class, Connor Barry was out front for the first half of the race. Barry made a mistake opening the door for his competitors to pass him but during a mandatory caution, Barry shot right back to the lead to bring home the checkered flag.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the youth class, Modified Kart is always a highly competitive short course race. It was there, season points champions were crowned. Several classes saw tight points battles coming into the weekend. Door to door racing would determine those that came out on top.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the Youth and Kart classes, Declan Shields earned a season championship in the RZR 170 class. Over in the Junior 2 Kart class, Mikey Childress stood high atop the podium excited to win his championship trophy. Luke Berry won the Junior 1 Kart championship over rival Chase Berry. Talan Martin beat out Cade Martin by five points to secure the Modified Kart Championship.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nOne of the best battles on track this season was in the Pro Buggy class. Matt Brister and Zach Drapkin have neck and neck. Drapkin claimed his first championship in the class over Brister. Both fought hard this season for podium positions. Robby Hornsby took home final win of the season in Pro-Lite earning him the championship over Kyle Knott. The points battle was also tight in that class. In Pro-2 it was Ricky Gutierrez who the secured the top spot.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nOther championship wins went to Cody Hodgson in Production 1000 UTV and Oliver Golding in the Production Turbo UTV class. The track is well known for its elevation changes and sweeping turns. The track, almost a mile-long has plenty of technical racing.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nKyle Kleiman has had success at ERX in the past in his Pro-Lite. Finally, stepping up in the Pro-2 class, Kleiman secured a win at ERX in Round 5. He had an early lead, but not without plenty of pressure from Jerett Brooks. Kleiman managed to hold off Brooks for a win. In Round 6, Brooks was out front and fighting to keep his position. Ryan Beat eventually moved into the lead. Cory Winner sat quietly picking off drivers. He patiently waited for his opportunity, and with three laps to go, Winner struck. First getting around Ronnie Anderson who had managed to run second place. Then Winner chased down Beat crossing with just 6\/10ths of second for a victory.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nAnother successful racer at ERX is Kyle Greaves. Greaves has five career wins at ERX. When the green flag dropped he immediately shot into the lead going wire to wire for another victory. Round 6 was a much different story with Trey Gibbs starting off in the lead. About midway into the race, Johnny Holtger made an impressive move around both Gibbs and Brock Heger as they were fighting for the lead. Holtger did everything he could to hold off pressure from Gibbs. In the end Holtger won the race.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nJohnny Greaves was back on top in Friday\u2019s Round 5 Pro-4 race. With the sun setting and shadows cast on the track, drivers had their work cut out for them. When the green flag dropped, Andrew Carlson was in the lead. After all, ERX is his hometown track. His race shop is just yards from the track on the ERX property. Unfortunately, Carson spun out handing the lead over to CJ Greaves. Just a couple laps later, the younger Greaves would pull off the track with an electrical issue. Kyle Chaney moved to the front for the third lead change of the race. It wasn\u2019t long before Johnny Greaves made a pass for the lead. Hot on Greaves heels was Kyle Leduc who also made a move around Chaney. As the clock wound down, Leduc was unable to get to the lead and soon had to pit for a tire change. Greaves cruised to a win. In Round 6, Greaves put his Friday bad luck behind him, put his head down and worked his way to the front of the pack. Ahead of him was Kyle Leduc. Ten rounds of racing are planned for 2022.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nAn invitational exhibition race will be held during the King of the Hammers in Johnson Valley on February 1st<\/sup>.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nPoints for the Pro-2 and Pro-Lite classes will be based on eight rounds to allow for those teams to run in the Midwest during the summer. Rounds 3& 4 of the series will be held May 14th<\/sup> and 15th<\/sup> at Glen Helen Raceway.
