The weekend featured two days of racing at the mid-west track. The event ignited the usual rivalries on the track.\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_12801\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"640\"]\"\" Cole Mamer the Championship Off Road season opener at Wheatland. Photo: Champ Off Road[\/caption]\r\n\r\nIn Saturday\u2019s Pro-4 action, RJ Anderson and Cole Mamer went to battle with Anderson leading the first half of the race. On the restart, Mamer got on the gas and passed Anderson for the lead. Anderson attempted to fight back, unable to pass Mamer. Sunday, saw CJ Greaves on the top podium spot after Mamer spun out on the track. Anderson briefly had a lead until a tire went flat.\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_12804\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"640\"]\"\" Ryan Beat started out his weekend at Wheatland with a win. Photo: Champ Off Road[\/caption]\r\n\r\nOne of the most competitive classes in the series is Pro2. Ryan Beat had the lead as battles ensued behind him. Ronnie Anderson, Johnny Holtger and Ricky Gutierrez all battled for positions. When the dust settled it was Anderson and Ricky G. who held onto the remaining two podium spots. On Sunday, Beat was back in the lead, but Keegan Kincaid wasn\u2019t going to let him win. Kincaid took over the lead at the restart and kept Beat behind his bumper for the remainder of the race.\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_12806\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"640\"]\"\" Johnny Holtger opened the Champ Off Road Series with a weekend sweep. Everyone was treated to door to door racing short course is known for.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the Pro-2 class, Ricky Gutierrez started \u00a0out front on the first lap. He held that position for several laps before Mickey Thomas came knocking on his back door. Gutierrez had steam coming out of his truck indicating things were getting hot. Literally! Gutierrez was able to get the truck cooled down temporarily during the mandatory caution. Thomas put the hammer down and the two drivers swapped lead positions bringing the crowd to their feet. The heat got the best of Gutierrez giving Thomas the lead and season opening win.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn Pro-4, the \u201cWildman\u201d Adrian Cenni put on a show for the fans. Swapping the lead back and forth with Jimmy Henderson, Cenni came out on top for a podium. Henderson and Johnny Greaves would make contact allowing Andrew Carlson to get by and claim the second podium spot.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nJohnny Holtger cruised to an easy Pro-Lite win for his first race of the season. There has been no shortage of action on the consistently packed schedule. The event always kicks off with a parade downtown in front of hundreds of fans. Racers were on hand for autograph and photo opportunities. This year at Crandon also was one of the stops on the Kiss farewell tour. The legendary eighties band rocked the house in a massive concert put on by the Forest County Potawatomi at the track.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nSaturday\u2019s Pro-4 race was another round on the Championship Off Road Racing Series. The battle was between Greaves and RJ Anderson. The two have had a close rivalry at previous races. Greaves secured his sixth win moving him further ahead in the points standings over Jimmy Henderson.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nCory Winner\u2019s season is also coming together nicely. Winner who has been consistent jumped to an early lead keeping the rest of the field behind him. Winner has also elevated his points advantage in the Pro-2 class.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nOther class winners included Kyle Greaves in Pro-Lite and first-time winner Billy Buth. Sunday\u2019s events will include the Pro-2 vs. Pro-4 Cup Championship race.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nWhen Crandon International Raceway got dark Saturday night, all eyes turned over to the rock section for the Ultra4 events. In the final laps of Saturday\u2019s Pro-4 race, Henderson went door to door with CJ Greaves. Both raced hard but clean. Henderson proved to be just a little faster than Greaves when the checkered flag flew, taking his first career Pro-4 win.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\u201cTo get our first pro-four wins, it's been so hard fought, and everybody knows the adversity we went through,\" said Henderson. \"but to do it here in Crandon, Wisconsin. At the Big House, to get this first number one means the world to me and means the world to my team.\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe monkey is off of Keegan Kincaid\u2019s back. Kincaid struggled last season. Bad luck also struck him in at the opening rounds in Antigo. Kincaid finally got a Pro-2 victory in front of his hometown crowd. Kincaid has won multiple times at Crandon.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nChad Rayford also continued his momentum in the Pro-Spec class. Just a few weeks ago, Rayford brought home his first ever career victory in the class at Round 2 in Antigo. Rayford stayed out front driving to the checkered flag with ease during Round 3 in Crandon. Despite cooler cloudy conditions, fans still packed the grandstands to watch a full day of racing. This year the track was run in reverse, challenging those drivers who have become too comfortable with the layout. Drivers had to be on their toe, gaining speed in corners and off jumps to give them a competitive advantage.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\u201cRowdy\u201d Ryan Beat proved at the season opener his Pro-2 truck was dialed in for the season. Beat wasted no time leading the field through the first turn. Beat stayed clean the entire race. After struggling in 2022 with a handful of podiums but no wins, Beat is ready to prove he has what it takes to make it to the championship. Beat will be one to watch this season.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the Pro-4 class, six trucks started the race. In the first lap, three immediately became casualties of racing. That left CJ Greaves, Adrian Cenni and Kyle Greaves to fight it out. Kyle was driving Johnny\u2019s Pro-4. Johnny was hospitalized after a Friday qualifying crash. The latest word is Johnny is doing ok after posting a photo from his hospital bed. Meanwhile defending champion CJ and Cenni swapped lead positions for several laps with some exciting door to door racing. In the end CJ claimed the top spot on the podium.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nEarlier in the afternoon, Kyle Greaves had already stood high atop the podium. Kyle patiently waited for the mandatory caution flag before striking. Kyle and Trey Gibbs spent the remaining laps battling for the lead. It wouldn\u2019t take long for Kyle to find the perfect line that carried enough speed to make his lead stick all the way to the checkered flag. Warm weekend temperatures made for some great racing and near perfect track conditions.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe Modified Kart race saw some great battles between the up and coming youth of the sport. Talan Martin battled with ten of his closest competitors to come out and sweep the weekend. Dane Culver took second on the podium in Saturday\u2019s round 2. Ashton Williams collected that spot in Sunday\u2019s round 3.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nIn Pro Buggy, Matt Brister held the top podium spot during Round 2. Zach Drapkin finished second. In Round 3, Drapkin had all the power he needed to beat Brister taking over the top podium position. Johnny Holtger found the speed he needed with a battle in Pro-Lite, bringing home a Round 2 victory. Connor Barry fell short one spot finishing second. Barry wasn\u2019t done yet, in Sunday\u2019s Round 3, he answered back with a win swapping spots with Holtger. Kyle Knott came away with a pair of third place finishes.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe mini stock class consists of literally stock trucks that have been gutted and caged with minimal safety requirements including a fuel cell and window nets. Robert Orr figured how to stay out front both rounds for a weekend sweep. Defending class champion Anthony Csuzi struggled throughout the weekend but came away with a pair of second place finishes. The tour will include seven stops, up one from the previous six venue schedule. The opening round will once again be held in Antigo, Wisconsin at the Roaring Lions Raceway. The series has held the opening round the last two years at the venue. The tour then moves to Crandon, Wisconsin for the Spring brush run events June 24th<\/sup>-25th<\/sup>.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn July, ERX Motorpark and Dirt City are back on the schedule. August includes Bark River. The series heads to Crandon for the traditional Labor Weekend races, but it doesn\u2019t end there. The season championship races will be held in an expanded seventh round at Mid America Outdoors in Jay, Oklahoma\u2013 a new venue for the series. A pro banquet and additional $50,000 purse will also take place during the weekend.\r\n\r\n\u201cOff-road racing has an extremely passionate base, led by both its competitors and its fans,\u201d said Carl Schubitzke. \u201cWe have been looking for ways to expand, while keeping our core events intact. The MidAmerica Outdoors group brings the same passion and dedication that we have grown accustomed to here in the Midwest. We know that the first six rounds of racing will be spectacular and will lead to an amazing finish in Oklahoma.\u201d\r\n
