\r\n\r\nAfter several days of qualifying runs at the King of the Hammers, it was Paul Wolff who had the fastest time blasting through boulders bigger than the RV\u2019s on the lakebed. Raul has two back-to-back wins at the King of the Hammers. JP also won in 2024. \u00a0All of the brothers are highly competitive. Scherer also a former King will be one to watch this year. There will be over 85 4400 vehicles racing on Saturday morning in the coveted Race of Kings event with less than half of the field actually finishing the event. To add to the drama, a mystery third lap will be thrown at the racers. \r\n\r\nEvery year the top King of the Hammers racers qualify during an hour-long session known as \u201cPower Hour.\u201d\u00a0 Paul Wolff blew through backdoor during his session to qualify second overall. Wolff blew a transmission at the finish line sending the team to immediately go fix the problem and get the car ready for Saturday\u2019s race. Loren Healy navigated his Fun Haver Ford Bronco through the rock sections for a third overall qualifying spot. Healy has previously won the King of the Hammers and is a fan favorite for a win in the Race of Kings. Menzies, who is from Las Vegas qualified for the race right in his own backyard. Menzies has won the last two Vegas to Reno races and is going for his third overall win. It was a heartbreak for the Concrete Motorsports team of Harley Letner and Kevin Thompson. Letner looked fast out of the gate in qualifying. Letner took a turn too fast on the course and rolled the truck. The team will have their work cut out for them starting the race at the back of the pack. Letner and Thompson remain undefeated this season in Best in the Desert.
