Sunderland was forced to withdraw from the rally.\u00a0 Ricky Brabec had an excellent day with a second-place finish, but the day and stage win belonged to Kevin Benavides.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nOver in the car class Lucas Moraes was the top dog of the day driving for Toyota Gazoo Racing. Mitch Guthrie Jr and co-driver Kellon Walch claimed a win for the Red Bull Junior Team in the T3 class. The win came on Walch\u2019s birthday. \u00a0\"Kellon did great today with navigation and the car was awesome,\" said Guthrie Jr.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the car class, Nasser Al-Attiyah took the victory with Toyota Gazoo Racing. In the three final stages of the rally, Quintero hammered down doubling his time and putting a 10-minute lead on Lopez I the final stage.\r\n\r\n\u201cI don\u2019t think I\u2019ve ever driven so cautious and scared in my life. Previously I\u2019ve always been in the position to fight for a lead at a rally, rather than having to manage a lead. But the stage was beautiful today, I was just kind of bummed out that I couldn\u2019t drive as fast as I wanted to because I was so nervous. It\u2019s great to be at the finish line and call ourselves the overall winner. We came into this thinking that we were going to be out of the championship and now we\u2019re pretty close. Organizers already changed the course to a loop around Al Qaisumah to accommodate the bad weather. Competitors still had 395 miles to complete.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nToday\u2019s stage win went to Carlos Sainz in his electric Audi RS Q e-tron. The win marks Sainz 40th<\/sup> Dakar Stage victory. Sainz has been finishing in the top three for the last couple of stages. The stage win is a Rally first for the electric car. Nasser Al-Attiyah continues to hold onto the overall lead despite receiving a penalty and \"suspension\" early Tuesday for not having his data logging equipment properly connected. Al-Attiyah will be able to continue on as long as he doesn't receive any further penalties of the same nature. Al-Attiyah is also required to pay a fine.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nSeth Quintero put his disappointing Stage two woes behind him, got on the gas and carried the momentum to a solid Stage three win for the Red Bull Junior Team. Quintero said he got lost for 10 minutes trying to find his route but maintained the lead.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the bike class, Portuguese rider Joaquim Rodrigues took the stage win. Australian Toby Price managed and second place finish with USA rider Maison Klein finishing third. Skyler Howes held on for fourth place, staying strong and consistent. The A.S.O. had originally planned a marathon stage, however heavy rains at Al Artawiyah forced officials to move the finish to Al Qaisumah where Stage 3 was planned. Monster Energy Honda\u2019s Joan Barreda Bort from Spain was the stage winner in the bike class. Sam Sunderland finished second on his GasGas motorcycle. Sunderland now has the overall lead. Skyler Howes improved his position with a 5th<\/sup> place finish while Andrew Short couldn\u2019t do better than ninth, the same place he finished in Stage One. Further down in the field, Ricky Brabec held on for 15th<\/sup> position.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n

An overnight rain gave way to an early morning mist. The Ha\u2019il terrain included stones, sandy tracks along with high mountain elevations.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nIn the bike classification, GasGas factory racer Daniel Sanders claimed a stage win with Pablo Quintanilla finishing second on the Monster Energy Honda. Further back in the field, US Yamaha rider Andrew Short finished in 9th<\/sup> position. \u00a0Ricky Brabec and Skyler Howes finished outside of the top 10.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nNasser Al-Attiyah was back with another career stage win followed by Carlos Sainz. I will not be able to compete in this years @dakarrally due to a positive Covid test. I feel 100% fine and have been quarantined since my test praying there is someway to race but here we are. Really no words, just bummed to be in this situation but it is what it is and there is nothing I can do about it. I want to wish my amazing @redbulloffroadjuniorteam teammates an amazing race as well as @amikkelsenrally who will be taking my place alongside @olafloene Thank you so much to our entire team for all of the hard work to get us here and I know this year it is going to pay off!
