Starting second behind leader Bryce Menzies, it was a game of patience and smart driving. Late into the afternoon, the Menzies truck had a transmission failure. That immediately ended any hopes of winning the Baja 1000 for Menzies and his second driver Andy McMillin who is Luke\u2019s cousin. Behind Luke was his brother Dan. Both Trophy trucks held their positions well into the night finishing one and two on the podium. Ironically, Luke McMillin is the defending champion this year in Trophy Truck. His disqualification at the Baja 500 moved Rob closer to the top. The duo decided to campaign MacCachren\u2019s Trophy Truck race number and use him as driver of record to win points for the championship. MacCachren has four season point championships in the SCORE Trophy Truck division.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nJason McNeil may not have won the SCORE Baja 1000, but he did secure the points championship. Luke McMillin was the top qualifier, started out front and had the lead the entire race. In the final 5 miles late into the evening there was a thick layer of dust hanging over the dry lake bed north of Primm. Rob MacCachren was just a minute behind Luke. As Luke dodged lap traffic he slowed for a 90 degree turn on the course. Rob MacCachren clipped Luke accidentally, causing Luke\u2019s truck to roll over at least four times. MacCachren immediately stopped to help and offered to roll Luke back over. The rescue team was seconds away. Luke yelled to MacCachren to go finish and win the race. Rob refused. Luke spent the next few minutes trying to convince Rob to go finish the Mint 400. Reluctantly, Rob headed towards the finish line. He was distraught and emotional as he arrived. Minutes later Luke arrived at the finish with Rob still apologizing. The two won the Baja 1000 together a couple weeks earlier. Both stood on the podium, their friendship and comradery stronger than any race.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\" \"\" \"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nCasey Currie claimed a win in class 1. Brent Fox won in the Spec Class while Chase Warren secured the Class 10 win.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nJust a day earlier in the limited race, Dustin Jones took home his first ever Mint 400 win, racing a Can-AM. The Pro-UTV driver finished 4 laps in eight hours, twenty-eight minutes and seventeen seconds. Luke McMillin teamed up with Rob MacCachren in the 4-Wheel Parts Trophy truck. The Super Team of Bryce Menzies and Andy McMillin also teamed up. Menzies was first off the line after winning the SCORE Baja 400. Menzies stayed out front with Luke just minutes behind most of the day. At the halfway point in the race Menzies turned the truck over to Andy. Just a mile down the road, the motor let go in a heartbreaking end to Menzies and Andy\u2019s run. MacCachren and Luke moved into the lead and never looked back. This is Luke\u2019s second consecutive win at the SCORE Baja 1000. The Super Team finished the grueling 1226-mile race in 20 hours 45 minutes and 59 seconds.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\u201cIt was a great day. Rob (MacCachren) brought me a great truck in second place. He got on the radio and told me it was a perfect truck so that put the pressure on me that it\u2019s go time. We did our homework, we did our pre-running. We hit our marks. Zero flat tires, zero close calls. The BFGoodrich Tires were unbelievable. We just stayed on the course and did our thing.
