Over two-hundred teams competed in the race which started and finished in Ensenada.\r\n\r\nAmpudia conquered the 461-mile course in 8 hours, 39 minutes and 34 seconds. Ampudia now has back-to-back SCORE wins, with a victory at the season opening San Felipe 250 back in April. Finishing behind Ampudia in second place was Toby Price. Later that year, Campbell won again at the SCORE Baja 1000 with Tim Staab and Greg Bringle. In all, Campbell collected a record 11 Baja 1000 wins and five Baja 500 wins. He also competed in the 2001 Dakar Rally with an eighth overall.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nAs a token of appreciation for Campbells efforts and contributions to Honda, the company presented him with the 1997 XR600R that he rode to his first win in the SCORE International Off-Road Series.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\u201cI\u2019m very thankful for my relationship with American Honda, and it means a lot to be recognized for three decades of hard work, racing, overcoming obstacles, giving input for new product, and helping with rider development. MacCachren got the job done in his two-wheel drive Trophy Truck. When the race started, upfront were some of the fastest off-road drivers all with a possible competitive advantage in their four-wheel drive Trophy Trucks which included Bryce Menzies, Luke McMillin and Andy McMillin.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nAs the race day went on, Menzies had motor issues. Luke went down with steering problems. Rob MacCachren stayed calm and consistent and soon found himself leading the race. His closest competitors were Broc Dickerson and Alan Ampudia. Rob pushed on in the #1 Trophy Truck to take the victory. After everything was sorted out, Broc Dickerson finished in second place with Larry Roeseler grabbing the third spot.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nOver in the motorcycle class, Juan Carlos Salvatierra took win. Salvatierra is from Bolivia. His win shows people from all over the world can come to Baja be victorious.
