The Rally began at Yanbu with a 41km liason before reaching the 22km timed prologue stage. Terrain included a loop with high speeds and rock-littered tracks. Stage 1 of the Rally will begin from Yanbu early Sunday morning. Terrain will include sandy dunes and plenty of rocky terrain. The day belonged to Stephane Peterhansel in his Audi. The next year Arciero came back to win the race overall. Arciero was out front most of the day in clean air after getting the top qualifying spot at time trials. Even with a quick mechanical stop late in the day, Arciero was able to get passed Justin Lofton who had the lead. At some point in the race, Lofton lost a lot of time allowing several trucks to get by including Adam Householder who finished second.
