Kyle Jergensen delivered a dramatic overall victory in the Unlimited Race across the brutal Nevada desert. The victory marked Jergensen\u2019s first Mint 400 triumph in four years and came after a late-race twist that reshaped the leaderboard. Jergensen completed four laps of the rugged course in 6 hours, 47 minutes, 23.597 seconds, securing the overall win despite competing against trucks with significantly more horsepower.\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_15201\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"640\"]\"\" Kyle Jergensen secured an overall Mint 400 victory in a Spec truck. However, the grueling desert terrain proved unforgiving. Early in the final lap, Householder was forced to stop for a tire change before suffering a suspension failure that ended his race, opening the door for Jergensen to take control. When the dust settled, Jergensen crossed the finish line more than four minutes ahead of second place Brett Sourapas. Ryan Arciero rounded out the podium in third. \u201cOur game plan was to let them make mistakes,\u201d Jergensen said after the race. \u201cWe made no mistakes\u2014no flats, no nothing. The truck was perfect and the team was perfect. The next year Arciero came back to win the race overall. Arciero was out front most of the day in clean air after getting the top qualifying spot at time trials. Even with a quick mechanical stop late in the day, Arciero was able to get passed Justin Lofton who had the lead. At some point in the race, Lofton lost a lot of time allowing several trucks to get by including Adam Householder who finished second. Kody Moutafidis and Wyatt Bittner brought home the win in the Open Expert class. Hardin brought home his first career victory in the Unlimited Class. Starting 12th<\/sup>, Hardin stayed consistent and waited for the front runners to \u201cdrop like flies.\u201d\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nJustin Lofton was the top qualifier. Lofton led the race for three out of four laps until a mechanical issue would side line him. Tim Herbst moved into the lead in the #19 Unlimited truck. Herbst ended up pulling off the track with an issue that would ultimately end his race. Up next to lead was the Concrete Motorsports Unlimited Truck driven by Harley Letner and Kevin Thompson. Mechanical issues would soon put them down nearly two hours. Eric Hardin seized the opportunity and had the race all to himself by over 13 minutes. Hardin kept pushing even as the truck lost second and third gear 20 miles from the finish.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\u201cAt first I thought it might be smoother like some of the other courses have been from the rain we\u2019ve been having, but that wasn\u2019t the case. The Martelli brothers did an awesome job like they always do. It was a super-fast course, but super technical, which makes it really fun,\u201d said Eric Hardin.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nA day earlier, the limited vehicles had their time on the course. Twenty-two-year-old Joe Terrana grabbed the biggest win of his career winning overall in the limited race. Terrana drove a Can-Am UTV, beating out second place Bruce Binnquist and third place Ryan Piplic. Terrana started deep in the field and kept a consistent pace all day. Terrana battled with Mitch Guthrie Jr until the last lap. Guthrie Jr had some mechanical issues that put him down on time. Other Mint 400 wins went to Trey Hernquist in Class 5, Brad Wilson in Class 12 and Rodriquez Tsosie in Class 11. The race was moved to the Peralta Ranch after a CRIT decision forced officials off of the BlueWater property in Parker, Arizona. The course featured 28-miles of racing in which most classes did three laps.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe results were delayed for several days due to a penalty review. Initially, Kyle Jergensen was on track to receive a penalty after a tire fell off of his truck. Further review of the incident determined a strap failed and the tire was not left intentionally. Jergensen finished fourth after changing a flat tire. Sunday he was back on the gas for the win. Jergensen was able to secure the season championship in the series.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the 6100 class, drivers finished within three seconds of each other. Menzies, who is from Las Vegas qualified for the race right in his own backyard. Menzies has won the last two Vegas to Reno races and is going for his third overall win. It was a heartbreak for the Concrete Motorsports team of Harley Letner and Kevin Thompson. Letner looked fast out of the gate in qualifying. Letner took a turn too fast on the course and rolled the truck. The team will have their work cut out for them starting the race at the back of the pack. Letner and Thompson remain undefeated this season in Best in the Desert.
