Photo: KTM[\/caption]\r\nShane McElrath has found his new home for the next two seasons, signing a two-year deal with Liqui Moly Beta Factory Racing to compete in the 450SX division. McElrath will campaign the Factory Beta RX 450F alongside Benny Bloss as Beta continues to build its premier-class Supercross program. The 32-year-old North Carolina native is a two-time FIM World Supercross SX2 Champion, winning titles in 2022 and 2024, and has multiple AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross victories on his resume.<\/p>\r\n
The move comes after McElrath's departure from Quad Lock Honda, where he competed for the past two seasons. He will get an early opportunity to familiarize himself with the Beta, making his team debut at the opening round of the SuperMotocross Playoffs in Columbus, Ohio, on September 12.<\/p>\r\n

Lucas and Sacha Coenen will make the move from the FIM Motocross World Championship to the AMA SuperMotocross Championship in 2027 after signing multi-year contract extensions with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing. The Belgian twins have established themselves as two of the sport\u2019s brightest young stars. Lucas, currently competing in the MXGP class aboard the KTM 450 SX-F, has already claimed multiple Grand Prix victories and finished runner-up in the 2025 MXGP championship during his rookie premier-class season. Beginning in 2027, Lucas will compete in the AMA 450SX\/MX class, while Sacha will race the 250SX\/MX class. Their exact East\/West Supercross scheduling has yet to be determined. The brothers got an early taste of American racing with a wildcard appearance at Thunder Valley, an experience Lucas described as helping confirm his desire to make the move to the United States.<\/p>\r\n

Beaumer joined KTM's factory program in 2024 and has quickly established himself as one of the sport's rising stars. The Arizona rider earned his first career 250SX victory during the 2025 AMA Supercross Championship and finished second in the Western Division standings. His 2026 season took a difficult turn when a serious back injury forced him to miss the entire Supercross season. Beaumer returned for the outdoor championship, however, and has put together an impressive comeback campaign.<\/p>\r\n

Hunter Lawrence entered the Unadilla National with a 12-point advantage over Jett and extended that margin early in the afternoon by winning the opening 450 moto. Jett finished second, with Jorge Prado taking third and Haiden Deegan fourth. The championship battle took a major turn in Moto 2. Hunter again started near the front and was running with the leaders before crashing while entering Unadilla's infamous Screw U section. The incident damaged his Honda and forced him to retire from the moto. With Hunter out of contention, Jett moved into the lead and held off a hard-charging Prado to secure the moto victory and his fourth overall win of the season. Jett Lawrence secured his third consecutive SMX title in Las Vegas. Photo: Feld Motorsports[\/caption]\r\n\r\nIn the premier 450SMX class, Jett Lawrence locked in his third consecutive world title, <\/strong>despite heavy pressure from brother Hunter and longtime rival Eli Tomac. Jett easily won the first moto. <\/em>In the second moto, Hunter crossed the line first, but Jett\u2019s strategy to finish strong paid off. A late pass on Tomac secured second place enough for the overall win and the championship. Photo: Feld Motorsports[\/caption]\r\n\r\nIn the 250 class, the title race hinged on Moto 2: Shimoda, who entered the day needing only a solid finish, was knocked offline multiple times by Haiden Deegan in aggressive exchanges. Footage showed Deegan aggressively getting into Shimoda sending both riders to the ground. Shimoda quickly recovered and rode away. Deegan wasn\u2019t so lucky. He walked off the track in pain. It would later be announced Deegan had a broken collarbone. Round 2 delivered exactly what the SMX Playoffs scheme promised: tight races, big swings in momentum, and championship implications that carry into the final. Haiden Deegan, who had been leading the 250SMX points before St. Louis suffered a crash with Levi Kitchen on the opening lap of the second moto, damaging his front brake lever. With Shimoda\u2019s win and Deegan\u2019s setback, Shimoda now leads the points by 10 heading into the final round. A second-place finish in Vegas will be enough for Shimoda to clinch even if Deegan wins. All eyes will be on both riders.","excerpt":"
