Chaney is the newly crowned King after beating all of the big fire breathing Ultra4 cars in the rock sections in his CanAm Maverick side-by-side. The win is huge and historic as a UTV has never won the premiere class at the Hammers and Chaney has never won a King title.\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_11987\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"640\"]\"\" Kyle Chaney secured a historic win at the Race of Kings beating out all of the Ultra4 cars to victory in a CanAm UTV.[\/caption]\r\n\r\n\u201cWe had a good car last year, this year we put a lot of effort into this race. To come out here and win, it was awesome,\u201d said Chaney. Co-driver Terry Madden helped Chaney out on the rock trails. Both have extensive experience at the Hammers. Like Chaney, Madden has never gotten a win in the King of the Hammers premiere class. Chaney has multiple UTV Championship wins at the Hammers.\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_11983\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"640\"]\"\" Paul Wolff passes Loren Healy in the rocks at Jackhammer.[\/caption]\r\n\r\nThe day was drama filled at the Race of Kings. Paul Wolff started out front after securing the top qualifying spot. Loren Healy quickly took command of the race in the desert loop but struggled when he got to Jack Hammer. Wolff re-took the lead as Healy went down with mechanical issues and was forced to withdraw. Former king JP Gomez found himself in the lead on lap 3 but was passed by Josh Blyler. JP then had to stop and get out to change a tire. Up ahead Blyler was down with mechanical issues. Both he and his co-driver were out of the car attempting repairs. As both of those drivers were stopped on course near Kings Vito, Chaney took over the lead and never looked back. Winning two years in a row seems like the impossible. Not for Kyle Chaney, who secured his second win at this year\u2019s UTV race at King of the Hammers. Chaney started seventh in a field of one-hundred twenty-two starters.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe UTV\u2019s raced the same rock sections that the big Ultra4 superstars will race on this weekend. The smaller wheelbase still makes things challenging. for the normally nimble UTV\u2019s that seem like they can crawl up anything. Only twenty-seven finishers made it to the checkered flag.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nCan Am had a great day at the King of the Hammers UTV race. Their drivers which included Chaney finished in the top three on the podium. Hunter Miller finished second. Miller won the King of the UTV\u2019s in 2020. Paul Wolff from Texas took third place.\r\n\r\nI grew up racing in the woods, and you have to be very precise,\u201d said Chaney at the finish line. \u201cThe more technical the better.\u201d\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe top twenty finishers transferred over to a $10,000 grudge match held on a 1.3-mile qualifying course. Brian Deegan, another Can-Am driver took home that big check. Deegan and his co-driver Terry Madden ran out of gas during the main race. Madden walked a mile to the nearest pit. The crew strapped a dump can to his back as he sprinted back to the disabled UTV, so they could finish the race.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nInterestingly enough, the top three finishers in the main race will also race in the 4400 class with the same Can-Am UTV\u2019s they raced today.\r\n\r\nImages courtesy of King of the Hammers","excerpt":"
