Arciero secured another win over at this year\u2019s event. The \u201ccomeback\u201d kid story began a few years ago when Arciero\u2019s truck burned to the ground during the race. The next year Arciero came back to win the race overall. Arciero was out front most of the day in clean air after getting the top qualifying spot at time trials. Even with a quick mechanical stop late in the day, Arciero was able to get passed Justin Lofton who had the lead. At some point in the race, Lofton lost a lot of time allowing several trucks to get by including Adam Householder who finished second. Robert Johnson in the Chattanooga Whiskey Trick Truck finished third.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nIn the stacked Spec Truck class, Jason Coleman also took brought home another back to back win. Brent Fox finished second with a young Travis Pecoy finishing third. In the moto classes Husqvarna had a stellar day with Danny Cooper and Axel Pearson winning in the Open Pro class. Kody Moutafidis and Wyatt Bittner brought home the win in the Open Expert class. The Class 10 of Chase Warren was the top qualifier in a 1-lap prologue held a day earlier. Bryce Menzies won top honors beating out Justin Lofton for the pole position in the Unlimited Trick Truck class. Other classes qualifying included 6100, 1500, Class 10, Open Pro Motorcycle and UTV Turbo Pro.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nA week of nasty monsoon weather in Nevada forced course officials to alter the race course several times right up to race day. The race was moved to the Peralta Ranch after a CRIT decision forced officials off of the BlueWater property in Parker, Arizona. The course featured 28-miles of racing in which most classes did three laps.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe results were delayed for several days due to a penalty review. Initially, Kyle Jergensen was on track to receive a penalty after a tire fell off of his truck. Further review of the incident determined a strap failed and the tire was not left intentionally. Jergensen finished fourth after changing a flat tire. Sunday he was back on the gas for the win. Jergensen was able to secure the season championship in the series.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nIn the 6100 class, drivers finished within three seconds of each other. This marks Lofton\u2019s first win this season in the series. Kyle Jergensen finished second behind Lofton on day 1. Lofton had his truck dialed in qualifying P1 at Time Trials. BJ Baldwin finished physically first on the second day of racing.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nThe race featured a two-day format. Vehicles raced four laps on a 17-mile course that included the famous \u201croad crossing.\u201d The course features a high-speed straight section before it crosses over the pavement at Needles Highway. Usually by the time vehicles reach the pavement, they have enough speed to literally fly over the road. There were five heats each day. Winning times were combined into an overall finish from both days of racing.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nTwenty-five trucks were entered in the highly competitive 6100 class. Bryce Menzies qualified on the pole and started out front. He led several hundred miles until a broken front differential on his four-wheel drive trick truck took him out of the race. That opened the door for Ryan Arciero who started 8th<\/sup> to take the win. Arciero\u2019s truck burned to the ground at last year\u2019s race. Going into Vegas to Reno, Arciero had very minimal test time on the new truck. \u00a0Steve Olliges finished second in Trick Truck and BJ Baldwin finished third.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nJames Dean was awarded the Class 1 win. Menzies, who is from Las Vegas qualified for the race right in his own backyard. Menzies has won the last two Vegas to Reno races and is going for his third overall win. It was a heartbreak for the Concrete Motorsports team of Harley Letner and Kevin Thompson. Letner looked fast out of the gate in qualifying. Letner took a turn too fast on the course and rolled the truck. The team will have their work cut out for them starting the race at the back of the pack. Letner and Thompson remain undefeated this season in Best in the Desert.
