The victory sets Menzies up nicely with a leading starting position for the upcoming SCORE Baja 1000 in November. Starting positions for that race are determined by finishing order at the 400. Menzies qualified second behind Luke McMillin. McMillin had the lead for the first 60 miles of the race before Menzies made the leading pass. McMillin was down with a flat tire change. The two four-wheel drive Trophy Truck wheelmen stayed close for the entire race. Menzies even lost his four-wheel drive maneuverability halfway through the race but managed to keep the lead.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\u201cWe had a clean day. We started out pretty smooth, just trying to chase Luke (McMillin) down. He got a flat early at about race mile 65. We got him while he was changing a flat. And then from there we just held him behind us with about a two and half minute gap and just wanted to keep him there in case we had any issues,\u201d said Menzies.\u00a0 \u201cOverall, we just had one flat and my co-driver (Willie Valdez) changed it in 50 seconds, which is absolutely unheard of. Other than that issue we had a great run. It feels really good to win back-to-back SCORE Baja 400\u2019s. We lost four-wheel drive at race mile 210. It tested my skills. I had to learn how to drive a four-wheel drive, then I had to re-learn to drive it with two-wheel drive. Overall, an epic day.\u201d\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nOnce all of the penalties were sorted out in the other classes, Christopher Polvoorde came out on top in the Trophy Spec Truck class. Polvoorde continues to lead the points in SCORE International and has just one more race to go with the class championship in sight. Menzies started out front after qualifying a hundredth of second in front of Luke McMillin. Menzies was careful not to get any penalties, running the course in eight hours, twenty-six minutes, 59 seconds. Luke McMillin finished in second place, three minutes behind Menzies.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\n\u201cWe came away from San Felipe with a win and then we had some issues while we were leading the SCORE Baja 500.\u00a0 We have qualified both times this year and our game plan was to play it smart. We put a little gap on Luke (McMillin) and I just wanted to keep it there all day, but then towards the finish I started making small mistakes. I don\u2019t know what was going on; I just wasn\u2019t in it, and he started catching me. I actually got stuck in a really tight section and had to back up. When you back up a four-wheel drive vehicle, it only goes into two-wheel drive, so I almost got stuck and I started to panic.\u00a0 But my main man over here (navigator Willie Valdez Jr) called every single corner, every single note, really coaching me and helped me get to the finish line.\u00a0 This one was technical. He stayed out front all day even with pressure from behind. Menzies finished just 15 seconds in front of defending champion Luke McMillin. Luke\u2019s cousin Andy, who originally started behind Menzies finished third.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe San Felipe 250 is first race in the SCORE International desert series. SCORE saw a full field of 269 starters for the San Felipe 250. According to SCORE, that\u2019s the highest third highest number in the 34-year history of the event. Last year\u2019s event was cancelled due to COVID restrictions.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nShelby Reid won in Class 1, sharing driving duties with her son Cody.
