Honda Racing Corporation USA has revealed the Honda Passport Baja Spec, a purpose-built Trophy Truck designed to compete in the top class of the SCORE World Desert Championship. The truck combines a twin-turbo V6, an 800-volt hybrid system, all-wheel drive and a suite of electronics that would be more at home in a prototype race car than a traditional desert truck.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-16593\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Menzies-Honda-Spec-TT-Front-Overhead-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/> <img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-16594\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Menzies-Honda-Spec-TT_Front-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-16595\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Menzies-Honda-Spec-TT-Front-Overall-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>\r\n\r\nAt the center of the Passport Baja Spec is a 2.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6 mounted behind the cab. The engine is based on the powerplant used in the Acura ARX-06 GTP prototype and has already proven itself in endurance racing, including victories in the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring. For Baja, HRC US has paired the engine with a bespoke 800-volt hybrid-electric system. Combined, the powertrain produces more than 1,300 horsepower, putting the Passport well beyond the output of the naturally aspirated 9.0-liter V8s commonly found in today's top Trophy Trucks.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone wp-image-16596 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Menzies-Honda-Spec-TT_Interior-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/>\r\n\r\nHRC US developed the hybrid power unit, battery and control systems in-house in Southern California. The battery uses previous-generation Formula 1-style pouch cells packaged inside a lightweight carbon-fiber case.The Electronics May Be Just as Interesting HRC says the truck will introduce dual-axle brake-by-wire, adaptive traction control and AI power deployment to the Trophy Truck class. Honda describes the truck as essentially a software-defined vehicle, with proprietary software tying together the powertrain, chassis and energy-management systems. That means engineers can continually adjust the truck's systems based on the driver, course and changing race conditions. For a sport where conditions can change dramatically over hundreds of miles, that could become one of the truck's biggest advantages.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-16598\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Menzies-Honda-TT_Side-Close-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/> <img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-16599\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Menzies-Honda-Spec-TT_Side-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/> <img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-16600\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Menzies-Honda-TT-Front-Full-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>\r\n\r\nPower is sent through a Mason Motorsports five-speed transmission and a purpose-built all-wheel-drive system. The drivetrain uses dual rear driveshafts connected to high-pinion spiral bevel gears rather than a conventional ring-and-pinion arrangement. At the front, portal gearsets at the hubs help increase ground clearance while maintaining the desired drivetrain geometry. The truck is built around Mason's Gen 2 AWD Trophy Truck chassis, with HRC developing a specific rear frame section to accommodate the hybrid powertrain while maintaining the desired weight distribution. Despite all of the hybrid hardware, Honda has gone to considerable lengths to keep the truck balanced. A 145-gallon carbon-Kevlar fuel cell is positioned in the center of the cab. Batteries and other fixed-mass components are positioned toward the rear of the chassis. Long-travel suspension with dual FOX Racing shocks at each corner handles the punishment, while Toyo tires provide the contact with the desert. Honda's goal was not simply to make the truck look aggressive. The bodywork was designed around high-speed stability, efficiency, cooling and weight distribution. The truck also features high-mounted exhaust outlets behind the cockpit with integrated aerodynamic fins, while tunnels around the cab help direct airflow toward a rear-mounted cooler.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone wp-image-16597 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Menzies-Honda-Spec-TT_Rear-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/>\r\n\r\nHonda has tapped Bryce Menzies to drive the Passport Baja Spec. The two-time Baja 1000 winner will compete with the truck in partnership with Menzies Motorsports, giving Honda one of the most accomplished desert racers in the world to develop its new platform. Honda has scheduled the truck's competition debut for the 2027 SCORE Baja 500, June 2-6, before setting its sights on the 2027 Baja 1000.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;","excerpt":"<p>Honda has pulled the covers off one of the most technologically advanced Trophy Trucks ever built, and there is a &hellip;<\/p>","date":"October 30, 2026 12:27","categories":[{"id":25047610,"title":"Desert Racing","slug":"desert-racing"},{"id":25047769,"title":"FEATURES","slug":"features"},{"id":25048477,"title":"Rides","slug":"rides"}],"tags":[{"id":25047701,"title":"baja","slug":"baja"},{"id":25047759,"title":"baja 500","slug":"baja-500"},{"id":25047666,"title":"Bryce Menzies","slug":"bryce-menzies"},{"id":25047659,"title":"desert racing","slug":"desert-racing"},{"id":25047643,"title":"Honda","slug":"honda"},{"id":25050005,"title":"Honda Passport","slug":"honda-passport"},{"id":25047632,"title":"off-road","slug":"off-road"},{"id":25048097,"title":"trophy truck spec","slug":"trophy-truck-spec"},{"id":25050006,"title":"TT Spec","slug":"tt-spec"}]}]{
