Kyle Jergensen delivered a dramatic overall victory in the Unlimited Race across the brutal Nevada desert. The victory marked Jergensen\u2019s first Mint 400 triumph in four years and came after a late-race twist that reshaped the leaderboard. Jergensen completed four laps of the rugged course in 6 hours, 47 minutes, 23.597 seconds, securing the overall win despite competing against trucks with significantly more horsepower.\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_15201\" align=\"alignnone\" width=\"640\"]\"\" Kyle Jergensen secured an overall Mint 400 victory in a Spec truck. Early in the final lap, Householder was forced to stop for a tire change before suffering a suspension failure that ended his race, opening the door for Jergensen to take control. When the dust settled, Jergensen crossed the finish line more than four minutes ahead of second place Brett Sourapas. Ryan Arciero rounded out the podium in third. \u201cOur game plan was to let them make mistakes,\u201d Jergensen said after the race. \u201cWe made no mistakes\u2014no flats, no nothing. Hardin brought home his first career victory in the Unlimited Class. Starting 12th<\/sup>, Hardin stayed consistent and waited for the front runners to \u201cdrop like flies.\u201d\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nJustin Lofton was the top qualifier. Lofton led the race for three out of four laps until a mechanical issue would side line him. Tim Herbst moved into the lead in the #19 Unlimited truck. Herbst ended up pulling off the track with an issue that would ultimately end his race. Up next to lead was the Concrete Motorsports Unlimited Truck driven by Harley Letner and Kevin Thompson. Mechanical issues would soon put them down nearly two hours. Eric Hardin seized the opportunity and had the race all to himself by over 13 minutes. Hardin kept pushing even as the truck lost second and third gear 20 miles from the finish.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\u201cAt first I thought it might be smoother like some of the other courses have been from the rain we\u2019ve been having, but that wasn\u2019t the case. The Martelli brothers did an awesome job like they always do. It was a super-fast course, but super technical, which makes it really fun,\u201d said Eric Hardin.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nA day earlier, the limited vehicles had their time on the course. Twenty-two-year-old Joe Terrana grabbed the biggest win of his career winning overall in the limited race. Terrana drove a Can-Am UTV, beating out second place Bruce Binnquist and third place Ryan Piplic. Terrana started deep in the field and kept a consistent pace all day. Terrana battled with Mitch Guthrie Jr until the last lap. Guthrie Jr had some mechanical issues that put him down on time. Luke McMillin was the top qualifier, started out front and had the lead the entire race. In the final 5 miles late into the evening there was a thick layer of dust hanging over the dry lake bed north of Primm. Rob MacCachren was just a minute behind Luke. As Luke dodged lap traffic he slowed for a 90 degree turn on the course. Rob MacCachren clipped Luke accidentally, causing Luke\u2019s truck to roll over at least four times. MacCachren immediately stopped to help and offered to roll Luke back over. The rescue team was seconds away. Luke yelled to MacCachren to go finish and win the race. Rob refused. Luke spent the next few minutes trying to convince Rob to go finish the Mint 400. Reluctantly, Rob headed towards the finish line. He was distraught and emotional as he arrived. Minutes later Luke arrived at the finish with Rob still apologizing. The two won the Baja 1000 together a couple weeks earlier. Both stood on the podium, their friendship and comradery stronger than any race.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\" \"\" \"\"\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nCasey Currie claimed a win in class 1. Jack Olliges was in a tight battle with Christian Strobel for the lead in the UTV Stock Class. With just one lap to go, Strobel ran out of fuel. Olliges took the win with Kaden Wells finishing second. Wells still won in his class- UTV Naturally Aspirated. Olliges also won the second day of racing earning the overall for the weekend.
