Webb started the main event out front but quickly dropped to fourth and stayed there to preserve his points lead and stay out of any trouble. Chase Sexton took over the lead to dominate the rest of the race.\r\n\r\n\u201c[This third championship] means everything. You don\u2019t know how many nights I\u2019ve woken up just wanting to get this again. And I never thought I\u2019d be here again, so never give up on yourself. Never cut yourself short. I\u2019m not maybe the best, but man, when you put your mind to something [then] you get it done. I\u2019ve got to give it up to the Good Lord, my wife, my family. Man, they push me to be the best every day. And Yamaha for giving me another opportunity; I knew I wasn\u2019t done after those two [championships]. It feels freakin\u2019 awesome, man. I just couldn\u2019t do it without everyone involved, the whole Star team\u2026 I wasn\u2019t supposed to line up this January [due to injury] and I did and here we are. It means the world. This may never happen again so I\u2019m going to enjoy the [heck] out of it. Thank you to all these fans, great team, teammates, everyone. It\u2019s just a relief. Eli Tomac had the points lead for most of the season. His lead was briefly threatened and taken away for a week by Cooper Webb. Then Webb suffered an injury in a season ending crash. Tomac looked safe and was on track to lock up the season championship. Then, in Denver at the second to last race of the season, Tomac sustained a heartbreaking injury that would end his season a week early. Chase Sexton was there to cash in and claim the title.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7048\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/2023SupercrossUtahFinal_SextonWin-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/>\r\n\r\nAt the final race in Utah, Sexton had the holeshot. Ken Roczen was on the move chasing Sexton down but, a knee injury shut Roczen down. It was Sexton\u2019s race to win. Honda was back on top. The manufacturer hasn\u2019t earned a title in Supercross since 2003.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7047\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/2023SupercrossUtahFinal_JettLawrence-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/>\r\n\r\nIn the 250 class, Jett Lawrence came away with his final win in the class. According to Block\u2019s Instagram page, he was in Park City, Utah snowmobiling and had posted videos of he and his crew using equipment to groom a track at his ranch. The Wasatch County Sheriff's Office in Utah says they received a 911 call reporting a snowmobile accident in the Mill Hollow area. Before the COVID-19 pandemic sidelined all of the riders, Tomac was locked in a tight points battle with Ken Roczen. As the races resumed this month at Rice-Eccles stadium in Utah, Tomac increased his points lead at every round. Tomac earned 25 points for his fifth-place finish in the final round earning him the Championship.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-933\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/TomacRace-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>\r\n\r\nTomac took things easy on the track. He avoided accidents and the mayhem that was happening in front of him, all while keeping Roczen behind him and defending champion Cooper Webb further back. Webb got tangled in a pile-up early on in the race. Tomac continued to play it smart keeping his eye on an easy finish. So pretty unbelievable. There was a time we didn't even know if we were even going to ride or not between Daytona and this swing of the series. As the race began, Shane McElrath and Austin Forkner were battling for championship points in two separate divisons. Forkner went down in a corner sustaining an injury. Officials would red flag the race to get Forkner clear of the track. The race was restarted, allowing Chase Sexton to move to the lead. Roczen took a big and much needed victory on Sunday night\u2019s Supercross Round 15 in Utah.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-883\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/SXPack-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>\r\n\r\nWhen the gate dropped for the 450 main event, Cooper Webb shot in front of the field. Just a few laps later, Roczen made his move for the lead. Webb was the Round 14 winner during Wednesday\u2019s event. Roczen wasn\u2019t going to let Webb have another victory. Roczen didn\u2019t have it easy on the track. The Red Bull Honda rider posted to his social media, he was fighting a battle with shingles. Through all of the pain of a 20-minute moto plus 2 laps, Roczen got much needed points to inch closer to leader Eli Tomac. Tomac still managed a 3<sup>rd<\/sup> place finish with Webb in 2<sup>nd<\/sup>.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-884\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/AustinForkner-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>\r\n\r\nThe Western Regional Lites riders were back on the track. Dylan Ferrandis had the holeshot. Austin Forkner began working his way to the front cutting under Christian Craig, who was running in second. Forkner than ran down Ferrandis, making an aggressive contact pass which temporarily sent Ferrandis off-track. Zach Osbourne grabbed the holeshot, but Cooper Webb wasted no time grabbing an early lead. Webb is the defending season champion. Tomac made his move for the lead halfway into the race. Webb continued to put pressure on Tomac as both riders battled hard. Webb\u2019s work paid off for the moment as he regained the lead. Tomac wasn\u2019t having any of it as he passed Webb back for the win.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-869\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/LitesPack_Round13-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>\r\n\r\nChase Sexton and Shane McElrath came into Round 13 tied for points in the East Regional 250SX class. A big crash on the first lap would cause the race to get red-flagged and restarted. McElrath grabbed the holeshot with Sexton behind. Five minutes into the race, McElrath made contact with a lapped rider and went down on his bike. Sexton took the lead and never looked back. The win gave Sexton the points lead he needed. Webb started in fourth with Zach Osbourne grabbing the holeshot. Osbourne lead the 450-main for 20 laps.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-858\" src=\"https:\/\/dirtsportsworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/EliTomac-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>\r\n\r\nWebb was able to make a pass on Osbourne and maintain the lead for the next 7 seven laps. Eli Tomac battled from mid pack also passing Osbourne and would-be right-on Webb\u2019s heels. Deeper in the pack, Ken Roczen fought his own battles, unable to make it to the podium. Roczen had to settle for 5<sup>th<\/sup>. Thirteen points separate Roczen and Tomac in the championship standings with just 5 rounds to go. If Cooper Webb wants to defend his title, he has his work cut out for him. Eli Tomac wasted no time clawing his way to the front of the pack, passing Cooper Webb in second, then Baggett for the lead. Tomac needed a win to stretch out his points lead over Ken Roczen who managed to finish third.
