The Crandon Historical Initiative includes an official partnership with the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\nThe project is a joint partnership with ORMHOF that will convert the upstairs area of the iconic barn and turn it into a museum that will house vintage short course vehicles, driver and event memorabilia. A wall of fame will honor drivers and volunteers at Crandon. A \u201cWalk of Fame\u201d area is also set near the podium.\r\n\r\nCrandon\u2019s original board of directors donated $30,000 to get the rights to build the annex. The current ownership donated an additional $11,000.\r\n\r\n\"\"\r\n\r\n\"The Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame is looking forward to partnering with Crandon International Raceway to celebrate the history of short course racing,\" said ORMHOF executive\u00a0administrator\u00a0Barbara Rainey.\r\n\r\nCrandon is also working on having vintage race vehicles compete on the track as part of the historical initiative. Typically, the race goes 1000 miles down the Baja peninsula, ending with a big party in San Jose Del Cabo.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nAfter registration and contingency was held at the famous Horsepower Ranch, the rally started in Santo Thomas, winding its way through the hills towards the Mike\u2019s Sky Ranch Loop eventually ending for the night in San Felipe. The next day vehicles took off towards Bahia De Los Angeles for some fun, fast sections along the sea of Cortez passing Puertocitos and Gonzaga Bay. The following day, vehicles launched out of Bahia De Los Angeles looping down towards Jesus Maria and turning back towards the start point. The race then headed back to San Felipe for another night. COVID restrictions in Baja Sur forced officials to keep the event in the northern half of Baja. Traditionally the rally goes all the way to San Jose Del Cabo. The events for the NORRA rally kicked off at the famous Horsepower Ranch just outside of Ensenada. Only participants of the rally were allowed on the property after passing strict COVID protocols.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nThe rally started in Santo Tomas and wound its way over the peninsula towards the fishing village of San Felipe. It was a mostly easy day for the participants. On the second day, the 243-mile course ended in Bahia De Los Angeles. The course will continue south near Guerrero Negro before heading back to Bahia De Los Angeles again. The course continues to north for another San Felipe finish. On the final day racers will end at Horsepower Ranch where an awards ceremony will be held.\r\n\r\n\"\" \"\"\r\n\r\nThere are a number of vintage vehicles entered in the NORRA rally that help celebrate Baja\u2019s rich racing history. Mark McMillin is racing the famous \u201cMacadu\u201d buggy. Dana Dague\u2019s PalapaBoy racing team is racing a 1991 Nissan Hardbody pickup truck in memory of the late Spencer Low. Other vehicles include Schampa\u2019s Class 11 entry, and a few early Broncos.
