Best in the Desert Laughlin Desert Classic Kicks Off with UTV Night Race

The Best in the Desert Laughlin Desert Classic kicked off with a night race for the UTV classes. Racing under the night sky of Laughlin, UTV drivers had to make sure they had the perfect combination of lighting to see rough sections on the dark course. The night race kicked off a full weekend of events held in Laughlin.

Perhaps the most exciting part of the night came right at the end of the unlimited race. Phil Blurton lead most of the race. On the last lap before the finish, Blurton sailed off the track crashing and breaking an a-arm. Unfortunately, that accident cost him the win and opened the door for 23-year old Mitch Guthrie to take the win in his Red Bull backed Polaris. Blurton would still manage to finish second.

Larry Heidler took a win in the UTV Rally Class, while Kolton Hustead won the UTV Production Class. Other full results can be found here.

Racing continues Saturday and Sunday with the Car and Truck classes.
