Best in the Desert is being forced to move the Blue Water Desert Challenge from Parker to California City after the Colorado River Indian Tribe (CRIT) pulled the permit for the race. Citing increased levels of COVID among the native community, CRIT is not allowing the race to be held. The Bluewater race scheduled for November 4th-7th would have been held entirely on CRIT land.
Best in the Desert officials were sent scrambling to find a new venue that wouldn’t require months of BLM permit applications and paperwork. The race will now be held at Peralta Ranch in Cal City and take on a name change as the Cal City Desert Challenge as well.
The race will consist of a 30-mile loop and there will still be time trials along with registration and technical inspection and an event expo.
