The first ever limited-edition production desert racer Bronco DR is being produced by Ford Motor Company. The vehicle is factory built to take on the Baja 1000 in 2022. An initial run of 50 Bronco DR’s will be produced. The first Bronco to race in Baja and win overall was in 1969.
The Bronco DR will come with a third generation Ford Coyote 5.0-liter V8 engine. The vehicle will also be outfitted with the necessary safety cage required for racing. It also has Multimatic Positional Selective DSSV Dampers to handle the punishing terrain of Baja. The Bronco DR weighs in at 6,200 pounds.
Ford has never produced a production vehicle for Baja. A race Bronco was built by Geiser Brothers in 2017 for the 50th anniversary of the Baja 1000. Earlier this year, Ford announced it was building a production race-ready Bronco for Ultra4 and King of the Hammers. Now the Bronco is ready to take on Baja and you can buy one.
