Class 11 bugs returned to the lakebed in Johnson Valley for the second year in a row. The Baja Jerky Class 11 Showdown was held under the lights as part of the action-packed week of King of the Hammers.
A total of twenty-six Volkswagen powered class 11 cars took to the starting line amid a packed crowd of spectators. Blake Wilkey qualified third behind lead Donny Donovan. Wilkey wasted zero time sprinting to the front of the pack. Just a couple laps in, a yellow flag was thrown after a rollover on-course.
The bugs were restacked, given the green and Wilkey took it all the way to the finish, challenged by only one car during the 20-lap event. Wilkey and his co-driver stood high atop the podium claiming his second Class 11 showdown win at King of the Hammers. Wilkey is the reigning champion from 2021.
