Honda Riders Dominate Opening Round of Pro Motocross Championship at Fox Raceway

Red was all over the podium over the weekend at the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship season opener at Fox Raceway in Pala, California. Team Honda HRC dominated all four motos across both the 450 and 250 classes. Chase Sexton led the charge in the 450 class while Jett Lawrence swept the 250 class.

The first 450 moto started off with Ken Roczen leading the field at the holeshot. It wasn’t long before Eli Tomac and Shan McElrath were all battling for the lead. Chase Sexton worked his way through all of them to lead and capture the first win of the season. In the second Moto, Sexton was back out front. Roczen did all he could to get the top spot rocketing back into the lead for the first half of the moto. Sexton patiently waited, finally making his move to regain the lead and eventually take another win.

In the 250 class, Justin Cooper had the holeshot. Jett Lawrence wasn’t far behind, making a pass for the lead and opening up a big gap that kept him out front. Lawrence’s brother Hunter finished second. In Moto #2, Nick Romano earned the holeshot in his first pro race. Jett Lawrence quickly asserted his position in the lead and stayed there throughout the entire moto. The win in both motos earned him the weekend sweep.

The Pro Motocross Championship is just getting started and will race Round #2 at the Hangtown Motocross Classic in Northern California.
