Rob MacCachren has taken the overall victory at the 2022 SCORE Baja 500. MacCachren got the job done in his two-wheel drive Trophy Truck. When the race started, upfront were some of the fastest off-road drivers all with a possible competitive advantage in their four-wheel drive Trophy Trucks which included Bryce Menzies, Luke McMillin and Andy McMillin.
As the race day went on, Menzies had motor issues. Luke went down with steering problems. Rob MacCachren stayed calm and consistent and soon found himself leading the race. His closest competitors were Broc Dickerson and Alan Ampudia. Rob pushed on in the #1 Trophy Truck to take the victory. After everything was sorted out, Broc Dickerson finished in second place with Larry Roeseler grabbing the third spot.
Over in the motorcycle class, Juan Carlos Salvatierra took win. Salvatierra is from Bolivia. His win shows people from all over the world can come to Baja be victorious. Salvatierra had three other riders on his team including Arturo Salas Jr, Shane Logan and Diego Llanos.
“We are so happy. Two years ago it was a dream to just participate in the SCORE Baja 500 and then I won the Ironman. I couldn’t have dreamed that I would also win the Pro Moto Unlimited class. It is a dream come true. This race is technical and rough. It was very physical and demanding on the body,” said Salvatierra.
