Eli Tomac was back in his favorite spot on the podium at Round 5 of Supercross in Houston, Texas. Tomac held off last week’s Triple Crown winner Chase Sexton for the victory.
When the gate dropped for the main event, Tomac shot to the lead without wasting any time. Just three minutes in, officials threw a red flag for a crashed rider. Per the rules, a staggered start was necessary when the race resumed. Tomac continued to the lead the field with Jason Anderson quickly moving into second. It didn’t take long for Chase Sexton to make his move on Anderson. Tomac held off Sexton despite losing to him in the heat race. Tomac continued to hold off Sexton throughout the end of the race and earn the Houston victory.
Houston was the opening round for the Eastern Regional 250 riders. Just like the story of the West series, a Lawrence was out front. That would be Hunter Lawrence, brother to Jett. Hunter led wire to wire to win the race with Max Anstie and Jordon Smith rounding out the podium. Finishing just off the podium in 4th was Haiden Deegan who made his pro debut over the weekend.
