Major flooding in Lincoln County, Nevada and the potential failure of the Echo Dam has caused Legacy race officials to postpone the VT Construction Battleground race. Race officials toured the area over the weekend as well as surveyed parts of the course from the air.
Parts of the course are submerged under eight feet of water and the mountain passes have two feet of snow. There are also several washouts making areas impassable with no way to divert around the damage. Officials say 90 miles of the course are unusable. Citing safety concerns, the event will be postponed to June 20-25, 2023. Entry fees can be refunded or rolled over to the new dates.
More rain is expected in the area this week.
