Jett Lawrence Wins SMX Playoff Round 2

The second round of the Super Motocross Playoffs were held at Chicagoland Speedway and Jett Lawrence was the rider to come away with the overall win after the weekend.

In the first 450 moto, Jett had the holeshot with Justin Barcia and Chase Sexton following close behind. Sexton who swept both motos in Round 1 was on the attack, but Lawrence held on for first and the win. In the second moto, Phil Nicoletti had the holeshot. Jett quickly took over the lead. Ken Roczen ran second. Throughout the moto, Roczen made several attempts to pass Jett. In a strange move, Jett waved Roczen by. Despite finishing the moto in second, Jett still won the overall. Chase Sexton leads Jett by two points going into the final winner take all round.

In the 250 class, Haiden Deegan was out front. He held that spot until Hunter Lawrence made a move forcing Deegan into a mistake. Jo Shimoda also made a move and got around Deegan. Hunter went on to win the moto. In the second moto, Justin Cooper was out front with the holeshot. Soon Shimoda went on the attack and took over the lead. Hunter eventually passed Shimoda who thought he had an issue with his bike. Hunter won the moto for a weekend sweep and Shimoda finished the moto in second. Hunter goes into the final weekend with the points lead.
