Sam Sunderland has been forced to withdraw from the Rally Du Maroc. Just a day before the event kicked off, Sunderland crashed on his GasGas Rally bike. Sunderland felt he was unable to race 100% after putting in a courageous effort in stage 1 and made the difficult decision to withdraw from the Rally.
This is for sure not the way we wanted to end the season with Sam, but as he’s still suffering from his pre-race crash, it was the right decision for him to withdraw after stage one. Everyone at Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing supports his decision and now Sam will rest, recover, and begin focusing on the upcoming Dakar Rally in January,” said RedBull Factory Race Team Manager Andreas Hölzl.
Sunderland claimed a Dakar Rally victory in 2022. The seven day Rally Du Maroc event takes competitors across some of Morroco’s roughest terrain.
