Nine-time World Motocross Champion Antonio Cairoli has left the Red Bull Factory KTM team. Cairoli has been with the team since 2009. He retired from racing Grand Prix events in 2021 but stayed on as an ambassador for the brand as well as a managerial role.
Ducati has been developing a motocross bike for the last couple of years and just hired Tony Cairoli to be their high-performance test rider. Ducati has announced plans to enter the Italian Motocross Championship. The Bologna-based company will use the races as a way to further develop their off-road bikes to make them competitive in motocross.
“I am extremely happy to become part of the universe of Ducati, which has always been a symbol of Italian spirit throughout the world, and to begin this exciting new adventure, in an all-Italian project. Being able to make my contribution to the development of the Borgo Panigale motocross bike is a dream come true and a source of great pride for me,” said Cairoli.
