Mitch Guthrie Jr. Secures Dakar Stage 3 Win

Mitch Guthrie Jr. secured his first stage win of the 2024 Dakar Rally. Guthrie Jr is competing in the challenger class. Stage three was a long 455 miles. It was also a semi-marathon as mechanics only had two hours to work on vehicles and fix any issues.

In the bike class, former champion Sam Sunderland struggled again with his GasGas bike, having starting issues. Sunderland was forced to withdraw from the rally.  Ricky Brabec had an excellent day with a second-place finish, but the day and stage win belonged to Kevin Benavides.

Over in the car class Lucas Moraes was the top dog of the day driving for Toyota Gazoo Racing. Mattias Ekstrom finished second. Saudi favorite Yazeed Al Rajhi knocked Carlos Sainz off the top of the pedestal in the overall standings. Meantime in the SSV class Sara Price has moved up to second in the overall standings. Yasir Seaidan claimed the stage win.
