Consistent rain created a muddy mess of chaos for Supercross riders at Round 2 in San Francisco Saturday night. Track conditions were extremely tough with deep soupy ruts that sent riders to the ground multiple times during the two main events.
Amid all of the chaos, Chase Sexton found the speed and momentum he needed to lead the field for the entire shortened 15 minute plus one lap moto. Sexton kept Eli Tomac at bay, sometimes five seconds ahead of the Yamaha rider. Tomac did all he could to close in but as the laps ticked down, it was not enough. Sexton grabbed his first win of the season and will reclaim the red plate for the upcoming San Diego round.
Over in the 250 class, the chaos was much the same. Riders going down, including an extremely tough night for Jo Shimoda whose bike failed to restart after sliding out in the mud. Shimoda never returned to the track. All eyes were on Jordon Smith who had the lead most of the night. Smith grabbed his first 250 podium and will get the coveted red plate. Levi Kitchen came in second on the podium.
