Qualifying Sets the Stage for the 58th SCORE Baja 1000

Christopher Polvoorde will start on the pole position for the SCORE Baja 1000 this week. Starting behind  Polvoorde are Alan Ampudia and Toby Price. “It was really tough. That was a really tough course, I’m not gonna lie. It was super technical. There were some gnarly silt corners that just didn’t flow, a lot of off-cambers,” said Polvoorde of the qualifying course.

Polvoorde has teamed up with Bryce Menzies to race the truck. Menzies secured his first ever Baja 1000 win in 2023 and is looking for a follow-up. Last year, Luke McMillin won the race. Polvoorde drive the first half of the race up to race mile 455. Menzies will then take over the truck and bring it home to the finish.

A total of 110 unique entries were registered for the four-wheel classes, with the qualifying session concluding with a single-lap run that determined start order for the race. Teams battled the desert terrain and their machines to secure optimal positioning before the brutal 854-mile (pro classes) route begins.
