Reigning 250 SuperMotocross Champion Jo Shimoda will miss the remainder of the AMA Supercross season following a crash during Saturday’s round in St. Louis, but the Honda HRC Progressive rider is expected to make a full recovery in time for the start of the outdoor campaign. After a doctors review this week, it was determined Shimoda suffered from a displaced fracture in his left fibula. The injury will not require surgery, though Shimoda will be placed in an orthopedic boot for the next two to three weeks as part of his recovery.
“Jo is a resilient competitor, and we’re confident he’ll make a full recovery,” said Brandon Wilson, Manager of Racing & Experiential at American Honda. “We fully expect him to be a contender for the 250 AMA Pro Motocross crown, and to fight hard in defense of his SuperMotocross Championship.
Shimoda’s absence marks a significant loss for the closing rounds of Supercross, where he had been a consistent contender. Still, with no surgery required and a relatively short recovery timeline, the focus now shifts toward a strong return for the outdoor season, where Shimoda is expected to resume his championship-caliber form.
