Hunter Lawrence kicked off the 2026 Pro Motocross Championship at Fox Raceway near San Diego, in winning fashion Saturday. Lawrence captured the overall victory at the Fox Raceway National and took the early lead in the championship standings.

The Honda HRC Progressive rider was the class of the field in the 450 Class, overcoming a stacked lineup that included defending outdoor champion Jett Lawrence, former MXGP World Champion Jorge Prado, and 450 rookie Haiden Deegan. Lawrence’s consistency throughout the day proved the difference as he secured the first overall win of the season.

One of the biggest storylines entering the opener was Deegan’s highly anticipated debut in the premier division after graduating from the 250 Class. The Yamaha rider showed flashes of speed as he began his rookie campaign against the sport’s top riders. Deegan came away with a 5th overall after a 5-4 finish after two motos.
In the 250 Class, Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki teammates Levi Kitchen and Seth Hammaker emerged as early title contenders, with Kitchen claiming the overall victory to open the championship.
The Pro Motocross Championship now heads to Hangtown for Round 2, with Lawrence and Kitchen carrying the momentum and red plates into next weekend’s racing.
