Luke McMillin Captures First SCORE Baja 500 Overall Victory

Luke McMillin finally added one of the biggest missing pieces to his desert racing résumé, capturing his first overall victory at the 58th SCORE Baja 500 in Ensenada and completing the prestigious SCORE Baja Triple Crown. The 33-year-old San Diego driver piloted his No. 83 McMillin Racing AWD Mason Ford Raptor to victory in the grueling 468.7-mile race, finishing in 9 hours, 10 minutes, and 54 seconds with an average speed of 51.05 mph. The win marks McMillin’s second consecutive victory in the 2026 SCORE World Desert Championship season and his seventh career SCORE Trophy Truck triumph. Defending Baja 500 champion Alan Ampudia of Ensenada pushed McMillin to the finish, ending the race just one minute behind in his No. 1 Team Papas & Beer Mason Ford Raptor.

In SCORE Trophy Truck 2WD, Cameron Steele and Dave Mason Jr. delivered a repeat victory for the Desert Assassins team, completing the course in 10:06:24 aboard their Geiser Ford F-150.Las Vegas racer Brendan Gaughan continued his dominance in Class 1, teaming with Tim Wilson to earn a third consecutive class victory. The pair completed the course in 10:32:53 in their HMS-Chevy. Gustavo Vildosola Sr. returned to the top of the SCORE Trophy Truck Legend podium alongside Ricky Johnson, while Trey Gibbs celebrated the first SCORE race victory of his career by winning the highly competitive Trophy Truck Spec class.

Polaris RZR claimed three class victories during the event, with Branden Sims winning Pro UTV Open, Joe Bolton taking top honors in Pro UTV Naturally Aspirated, and Craig Scanlon securing the Pro Stock UTV victory. Tyler Lynn, Carter Klein, and Sam Pretscherer captured the overall motorcycle victory for the SLR Honda team aboard the 1x.
