Chase Sexton, Kawasaki Part Ways After One Season

Chase Sexton’s short-lived run with Monster Energy Kawasaki is officially over. Kawasaki and Sexton have mutually agreed to part ways effective October 23, 2026, abruptly ending what was originally announced as a three-year partnership after just one season. The split brings another major shakeup to an already chaotic 2027 Supercross silly season, with Sexton now searching for his fourth factory home in five seasons.

Sexton joined Kawasaki for the 2026 season after leaving Red Bull KTM, arriving with championship credentials after winning the 2023 450SX title with Honda and the 2024 450MX championship with KTM. Expectations were high, but the Kawasaki partnership never developed into the title-contending combination many expected.

Sexton finished sixth in the 2026 450SX championship after a season that included crashes, injuries and only three podium finishes. His outdoor campaign was cut short following a heavy crash at Thunder Valley that resulted in a torn ACL, ending his Pro Motocross season and keeping him out of the SMX Playoffs.

Neither Kawasaki nor Sexton publicly detailed the reason for ending the agreement early. Kawasaki released a brief statement confirming the mutual decision and pointed to Sexton’s two Supercross victories during the 2026 season while wishing him well for 2027. Sexton also thanked Kawasaki and the team personnel for their efforts.

“Just want to say thank you @racekawasaki,” Sexton said on social media. “Very appreciative for all the effort by every person involved and I wish the team and all the staff the best going forward. See you at the races!”

Now the biggest question is where Sexton goes next. With the 2027 Monster Energy Supercross opener at Anaheim approaching, Sexton becomes one of the biggest names still on the board. Yamaha, Honda, KTM and other potential destinations have been discussed in the rumor mill, but no new deal has been announced.
