Unlimited Desert race trucks were ripping through the Johnson Valley desert today. Bryce Menzies was on the move with a huge lead in the field. 13 trucks remained after the morning qualifying prologue that took the racers 20 miles into the desert.
Once the race got underway, Menzies lead the field in his all-wheel drive trophy truck. At one point Andy McMillin was 20 seconds behind Menzies, but a mistake would cause McMillin to roll the truck. Enough damage was sustained to end his run. Menzies continued to stretch his lead out rocketing to the finish line. Menzies would take home a $100,000 winner take-all check for his efforts.
“This course was so gnarly, there were so many rocks. What an unreal day. $100 grand baby,” said Menzies on the podium.
2019 winner Luke McMillin finished in second place. McMillin was in a 2-wheel drive truck. He also had to contend with the rocky desert terrain. McMillin said he drove smart and stayed the course. Behind McMillin, BJ Baldwin finished third place after passing a stuck Brett Sourapas in the rocks.
