SCORE International Off-Road Racing returned to Baja after the Pandemic forced a months long hiatus of racing. The race was held in San Felipe over the weekend. Robby Gordon was the top qualifier in the trophy truck class. The course length was 493 miles and went north up to Mexicali before turning back south towards San Felipe.
Gordon started out front and held the lead for the first 200 miles. The Herbst trophy truck was close behind Gordon. Tim Herbst made it to the finish line first, but once official tracking data was reviewed, the win was awarded to Dan McMillin. McMillin finished the race in 8 hours, 29 seconds. McMillin’s co-driver for the Baja 500 was Justin “Bean” Smith.
Other wins went to Cody Parkhouse in Class 1, Santiago Creel in Trophy Truck Spec and Ivan Tagle in Class 10. Mark Samuels took a victory in the Pro Motorcycle Class. Kristen Matlock won the Pro UTV class. A full expanded story on the Baja 500 will be available in the October issue of DirtSportsWorld Magazine.
