GMC Introduces Hummer EV

The Hummer is back and its electric. GMC debuted the 2020 Hummer EV Edition 1 on Tuesday night. The Hummer is the first fully electric addition to the GMC line-up. The vehicle features an 800-volt 350-kilowatt DC fast charging battery system with an estimated range of 350 miles.

“GMC has long been a leader in professional-grade trucks and the all-new GMC HUMMER EV will help to establish new standards in capability, maneuverability and driver control,” said Al Oppenheiser, HUMMER EV chief engineer. “Our goal was to develop the most capable, factory off-road pickup on the market. We’re excited to show the world what 100-plus years of truck know-how can do when applied to EV power.”

The Hummer has five drive modes for whatever terrain you may be traveling on. An exclusive “crab walk” feature allows the vehicle to move sideways. The Hummer has all the features one would need to have a successful off-road experience such has lockers, underbody armor, front and rear independent suspension systems and more. An “extract mode” raises the vehicle 6-inches allowing it to clear boulders and other obstacles.

We will have a complete review of the Hummer EV in the November issue of DirtSportsWorld Magazine.
