Stephane Peterhansel Wins Dakar Rally

Stephane Peterhansel has taken the overall win at the 2021 Dakar Rally. Peterhansel, driving for the X-Raid mini team, secured his 14th career win. Peterhansel won by 14 minutes over closest competitor Nasser Al-Attiyah. Peterhansel had one stage win and several consistent top finishes.

Team Honda was back on top for the second year in a row in the motorcycle class. Kevin Benavides from Argentina took the overall win, beating second place and 2019 defending champion Ricky Brabec. Honors for a notable finish went to Utah native and privateer Skyler Howes. Howes finished the rally 5th overall.

Seth Quintero finished the rally for the first time in his career. Quintero drove an OT3 vehicle for the Red Bull junior team. “We came out swinging and we proved our point that we’re here to stay. The Red Bull Off-Road Junior Team is not a team to be messed with, we’ll be back next year, and we’ll be back better,” said Seth Quintero.

We will have expanded Dakar Rally coverage in the February issue of DirtSportsWorld Magazine.
