NORRA officials have announced the Mexican 1000 will happen in April as planned. NORRA officials are looking at two options for the event.
The first includes the original peninsula run that starts in Ensenada and ends in San Jose Del Cabo. The series is working closely with state and federal governments in Mexico. While the COVID-19 situation is improving in Mexico, some parts of Baja Sur may not yet be open.
Officials are looking at running a north loop race as alternative to the peninsula run. That run would include staying in the northern half of Baja with the race starting in Ensenada, running to San Felipe then stages finishing in Bahia De Los Angeles before turning back towards San Felipe again and back towards Ensenada. NORRA officials promise to make the race just as challenging should the northern loop option be selected.
NORRA has until April 1st, 2021 to make decision. The NORRA Mexican 1000 starts April 23rd, 2021.
