The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross championship headed to Southwick, Massachusetts over the weekend. “The Wick” is known as America’s Sandbox due to its deep, challenging sand.
Dylan Ferrandis had the moto 1 lead at the gate drop and never looked back winning wire to wire. Justin Barcia was the closest rider within striking distance of Ferrandis by four seconds but the laps and time on the clock dwindled down and it was too late. Ferrandis had secured the victory. In Moto two, Ferrandis and Eli Tomac were battling for the lead. Ferrandis began having bike issues and his team posted “no clutch” on their sign board. Ken Roczen was also in the mix, but Tomac quickly made a move for the lead and the win. Roczen finished second. Ferrandis managed a third-place finish giving him the overall and more points for the season lead.
In the first 250 moto, RJ Hampshire was in the lead, but a mistake allowed Michael Mosiman to get around Hampshire for the lead. Mosiman went down after battling with Jett Lawrence. A few laps later Jalek Swoll and Jett Lawrence both went down in crashes. In the end Hunter Lawrence took the victory. In the second moto, Hampshire was back out front, but another crash would end his lead. Justin Cooper moved to the lead, but Hunter Lawrence wasn’t having any of it, sweeping both motos and grabbing the overall. Jett Lawrence leads Justin Cooper by just three points.
