The eleventh round of the Lucas Oil Outdoor Motocross Championship was held at Fox Raceway near San Diego. Just over three months ago, the season started there and at that time it was anyone’s guess who would win the championship. Ken Roczen had a good run this season, but it wasn’t enough close the points deficit between Dylan Ferrandis at the end of the season.
In Moto one, Ferrandis scored the win. A second-place finish in Moto two, was all Ferrandis needed to clinch the title. He becomes the first Frenchman in 30 years to win the championship. The 450 class has seen 26 different title holders in the last 50 years. Eli Tomac ended up with the overall victory for the day after a Moto two win.
Over in the 250 class, Jett Lawrence has been locked in a tight points battle with Justin Cooper. A podium sweep in both motos helped Lawrence tremendously.
