The UTV World Championship is partnering with Tread Lightly! to help clean up the desert near Lake Havasu. The goal of the partnership is to teach good stewardship in off-road. Tread Lightly! started as a campaign to address impacts from off-roading in forest areas. In 1990, the organization became a non-profit. Based in Utah, Tread Lightly! helps protect recreation access and promotes outdoor ethics while maintaining a healthy environment.
“COVID has supercharged the already rapid growth of the UTV market with 72% of sales being new UTV users. We want to ensure that we teach people new to off-road culture that responsible land use is one of our most important duties,” stated UTV World Championship CEO Matt Martelli.
” Even just the basic tenet of pack it in, pack it out, making sure you take out any trash you bring in needs to be reinforced as a basic rule of thumb for off-road recreation,” Martelli said.
The UTV World Championship event is working with Tread Lightly! to help create a desert clean-up at its Lake Havasu event in October.
