MX Sports Pro Racing, the entity behind outdoor motocross and Feld Motorsports who owns the Supercross series have announced a joint partnership to form the SuperMotocross World Championship. Boasting the richest purse at $10 million, the new championship platform will expand the professional racing season.
“With the creation of the SuperMotocross World Championship, we are taking a significant step towards growing the sport into a series that will be better suited for the expanding global marketplace and its impact on our fans and sponsors,” said Kenneth Feld, Chair and CEO of Feld Entertainment, Inc. “As media and technology continue to evolve, SuperMotocross will be able to capitalize on these innovations to reach new audiences and grow exponentially in the coming years.”
Beginning in 2023, both series will run their normal respective schedules, Supercross in the Winter and Spring and outdoor motocross in the summer. In October, the top riders from both series will come together for a world championship event at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in California. The event will have two playoff rounds and world championship round. The winner will take the #1 plate and massive payout. The tracks will combine both features from Supercross and outdoor motocross.
