The Extreme E Series landed in Antofagasta, Chile for the fourth round. This is the first time the Extreme E Series has held an event on the South American continent. Extreme E cancelled its South American plans last year due to COVID concerns. Twenty world class drivers battled for the win on the rollercoaster style course.
It was a good weekend for X44 drivers Sebastien Loeb and Cristina Gutierrez who finished second on course physically. They were awarded the win after the McLaren team received on-track penalties. Championship leaders Rosberg X Racing struggled with technical issues. The Chip Ganassi Hummer team initially finished third, but a penalty for a missed waypoint dropped them to fourth
Today was amazing, we are so happy to have won the Copper X Prix and to still be in the fight for the championship. Rosberg X Racing are a really strong team so for them to not be able to drive in the Final was not good for them, but hopefully it is more interesting to have more than one team fighting for the championship in Uruguay,” said Cristina Gutierrez.
