The Motocross of Nations was held at the Red Bud Motocross Track in Buchannan, Michigan. Team USA consisting of riders Eli Tomac, Chase Sexton and Justin Cooper reclaimed the victory. The team was led by manager Roger DeCoster. The last time the United States Team won the event was in 2011.
The three US riders defeated other teams from 31 countries. The event features riders in three classifications- MXGP, MX2 and Open. Each rider is scored based on where they finished in the combined motos and scores are tallied to determine the winning team. Results for the US team included Tomac going 1-6 in MXGP, Sexton’s 2-3 in Open and Cooper’s 9-4 finish in the MX2 class. Cooper also earned the individual championship in his class.
