Bryce Ford was crowned the big winner Friday night, taking home a $10,000 check at the Huevos Years Invitational. Promoter Wes Miller scrambled at the last minute to find a venue after being unable to hold the event in Primm during the WORCS race. By Thursday night, Miller had secured the Sandy Valley Motocross Park, located on the California/Nevada border. A dozen quad riders showed up ready to take on the challenge on the motocross-style track.
A crowd of spectators even showed up to the event, braving nighttime temperatures that dropped into the high 30’s. The action on track did not disappoint as things kicked off with a practice session and qualifying. The riders then went head to head, racing two by two in an elimination round. The final race of the night pitted Bryce Ford against Joel Hetrick. The two riders took off neck and neck proving they were both fastest on the track. Unfortunately, on the start of the second lap, Hetrick got caught up on the giant tire obstacle at the start line. This gave Ford a major advantage as he shot down the track flying over the jumps and rocketing into the finish.
An ecstatic Ford grabbed the checkered flag and rode a victory lap before coming back in towards the crowd. For several minutes as everyone gathered around him, Ford revved his quad exciting the crowd even more. Ford had a giant smile on his face the rest of the night jumping around in victory.
