The annual legendary fall Crandon race kicked off in a big way. There has been no shortage of action on the consistently packed schedule. The event always kicks off with a parade downtown in front of hundreds of fans. Racers were on hand for autograph and photo opportunities. This year at Crandon also was one of the stops on the Kiss farewell tour. The legendary eighties band rocked the house in a massive concert put on by the Forest County Potawatomi at the track.
Saturday’s Pro-4 race was another round on the Championship Off Road Racing Series. The battle was between Greaves and RJ Anderson. The two have had a close rivalry at previous races. Greaves secured his sixth win moving him further ahead in the points standings over Jimmy Henderson.
Cory Winner’s season is also coming together nicely. Winner who has been consistent jumped to an early lead keeping the rest of the field behind him. Winner has also elevated his points advantage in the Pro-2 class.
Other class winners included Kyle Greaves in Pro-Lite and first-time winner Billy Buth. Sunday’s events will include the Pro-2 vs. Pro-4 Cup Championship race.
When Crandon International Raceway got dark Saturday night, all eyes turned over to the rock section for the Ultra4 events. Several classes of Every Man Challenge vehicles battled as giant boulders claimed vehicles left and right. Paul Wolff was a man on a mission in the unlimited 4400 class. Wolff was out front every lap, ripping through the rocks like they didn’t exist.
