Tragedy Strikes Baja 500

A motorcycle racer died during the Baja 500 on Saturday. According to SCORE International, Jason Hogan of Granby Colorado passed away of heat stroke during the race around the area of mile 324 near the Summit.

“Hogan was assisted by Trophy Truck driver Justin Lofton’s navigator and several other racers, but sadly he passed away at the scene. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, team and friends during this difficult time.

Hogan was entered in the Pro Moto 50 class for riders over 50 years old. The rider of record for the 592x Husqvarna FX450 bike he was riding was Chris Hammond.  Video from the scene showed multiple racers stopped along the summit course carrying Hogan down the trail. Hogan’s peers are remembering him as a passionate competitor who left this world doing what he loved. Weather conditions in the area were in the upper 90’s.
