Austin Forkner has announced his retirement from professional motocross and supercross competition, bringing an end to a career marked by exceptional speed, resilience, and an unwavering determination to overcome adversity. Forkner was noticeably absent from RedBud last weekend.

The 27-year-old made the announcement through a video shared on social media, revealing that the decision was driven by a combination of lingering health issues, the lasting effects of multiple serious injuries, and a desire to prioritize his family. Forkner’s retirement takes effect immediately. Forkner explained that ongoing nerve damage in his left arm, along with the physical and emotional toll from years of injuries which include a devastating crash at the 2024 Arlington Supercross that ultimately led to the discovery of a brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM) requiring surgery.

Forkner previously rode for Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki, capturing 13 AMA 250SX main event victories, placing him among the winningest riders in the division’s history. Forkner then went to Triumph Factory Racing helping the manufacturer launch its premier-class effort during the 2026 Supercross season. As he steps away from professional competition, Forkner said he is looking forward to focusing on the next chapter of his life with his wife and young family.
