Creighton King was sadly killed in a Utah plane crash on Tuesday. King was known as “Mr Maxxis” traveling around the country to short course and desert races with the Maxxis Tire Support rig. According to reports, King was piloting his orange Cassutt race plane known as “Last Lap Player” near the South Valley Regional Airport in West Jordan. Witnesses reported the plane suddenly banked after takeoff and plummeted to the ground. King had raced the plane at airshows around the country and was preparing to attend the upcoming Reno airshow in September.
King was part of a Youtube series called “Behind the Scenes with Creighton King.” King did interviews with racers and fans at short course races asking them random questions. The series quickly became a hit. King later founded Grip Lock Ties, a company that made a plastic reusable type zip-tie.
King was loved by everyone and his loss is hitting the off-road community hard. Social media was flooded by posts about King from many who he touched in the industry.
